Senior Vice-President, Research & Development, Dr. Wulf Droge, is
extremely pleased about this regulatory approval.
"What consumers have known for quite some time has now been formally recognized by the NHPD: the health benefits of Immunotec's lead product HMS 90 / IMMUNOCAL for the immune system are based on solid science."
Natural Health Products must be manufactured, packaged, and labelled in
Health Canada-approved facilities according to current Good Manufacturing
Practices to ensure optimal quality of the finished goods. The evaluation of
the efficacy of a specific product allows consumers to make an informed choice
when including natural health products in their wellness regimes.

“I prayed to God for a miracle.”
“How happy I was to have a second chance at life!”
For many months, l had felt unnaturally fatigued and kept getting colds and infections. Then my doctor diagnosed me with Chronic Lymphocyte Leukemia (CLL).
I was told there is no cure. My doctor tried to lift my spirits by saying that someone would probably come-up with a cure within the next ten years. But since it is a progressive leukemia, I knew I needed to keep the number of white blood cells down if I wanted to last that long. Unfortunately, my white blood cell count kept increasing with each blood test every month, letting us know the cancer was growing.
Lumps formed on my neck, forcing me to wear turtleneck sweaters and scarves to hide them even during the summer, because I didn't want to worry my children. I also tried my best to conceal the skin disorder developing on my right arm. I hated living on antibiotics, but what choice did I have? Every time I got an infection, my white blood cell count would take a jump. By June of 2004, I was very ill and had about given up.
I made my funeral arrangements and put my affairs in order. I prayed to God for a miracle. The next day, a good friend of mine from Toronto sent me some glutathione (GSH) enhancer, firmly insisting that I take some every day.
Within a week, I experienced a complete turnaround in my condition! How happy I was to have a second chance at life! In six weeks, my white blood count had gone down and the lumps on my neck were shrinking. After six months, I had no lumps, the skin disorder on my arm cleared up, my hair began to shine, and my fingernails lost their ridges.
What can I say? I was absolutely delighted! I still have leukemia but I don't worry so much, as long as I feel and look good. I am enjoying a high quality of life and that's all that counts. My new saying is "If I'm going out, I'm going out feeling good!"
As long as I keep my glutathione levels up, I feel great! How gratifying to have my life back! Fausta Magee
P.S. After only 10 months in this business I’m earning over $10,000.00 per month. You will be very pleased with the benefits to your health, and for those choosing the business opportunity it can also mean a lifetime residual income.

Immunocal®/HMS 90® Comes Through Once Again
Recent evidence has suggested that many children with autism have low levels of glutathione in their cells. For this reason a 6-week open-label clinical trial on the use of Immunocal®/HMS 90® on children with autism was undertaken.
The specific questions addressed during this study were:
- Will the children take the supplement?
- Will the supplement be tolerated?
- And as a secondary measure, what behavioral changes were documented?
We’re proud to announce that the results were promising and will allow for further studies to proceed in order to fully demonstrate the benefits of augmented glutathione levels in children with autism.
Cysteine supplement may help lung patients
SAN DIEGO, Apr 30 (Reuters Health) -- A nutritional supplement may be useful for patients with lung disorders, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or cystic fibrosis, according to a Toronto researcher.
The supplement, called Immunocal, increases body levels of glutathione, a protein that can improve muscle performance and help fight oxidative stress.
The product is a specially pasteurized form of cow's milk whey protein that is rich in cysteine, an amino acid that the body uses to produce glutathione, said Dr. Larry C. Lands, of McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in an interview with Reuters Health.
Unlike other cysteine sources, the cysteine found in Immunocal is both biologically active and in a form that is readily available for cellular uptake, said Lands, who presented study findings on the supplement recently at the American Lung Association/American Thoracic Society International Conference here.
In the study, 20 healthy, young volunteers were randomly assigned to take either Immunocal daily or a casein placebo, which is low in cysteine. After 3 months, there was a 13% increase in work capacity and peak power in leg muscles during cycle testing among those taking Immunocal, but no similar improvement was found in the placebo group. The concentration of glutathione increased in white blood cells by 35%.
“In situations of ongoing stress, like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, like cystic fibrosis, there is an even greater demand (for glutathione),” Lands said. The researchers are currently beginning a clinical trial of Immunocal in which they expect to enroll approximately 30 patients with cystic fibrosis.

Researchers in Texas Launch Autism Study Using Protein
Supplement
DALLAS, November 22, 2006--- Scientists at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and Immunotec Research Ltd. have initiated a study in which a specially formulated whey protein isolate (Immunocal) will be used to raise glutathione levels in an attempt to lessen symptoms of autism.
Autism is a neurological developmental disorder that affects children’s ability to socialize normally, impairs language skills, restricts their interests and curiosity and causes other behavioral abnormalities.
Most cases are diagnosed before three years of age, and there has been an alarming increase in the number of cases diagnosed over the past two decades.
Currently, 1 in every 175 American children is being identified as having autism, and these numbers are on the rise each year. (Update 2008-1 in every 154)
To date, medical treatment of this disorder has been minimally effective.
Although the causes of autism have not been clearly identified, research has suggested that chronic biochemical imbalance plays a role.
Studies have shown that levels of the major intracellular antioxidant “Glutathione” is typically about 50% lower in children with autism.
Glutathione, which is produced by every cell in the body, is responsible for a number of functions including removing or neutralizing dangerous substances that we are exposed to on a daily basis, including toxic metals.
Toxins, pollution, disease, stress, and poor diet can all contribute to loss of glutathione. When glutathione levels reach a critically low degree, we are much more vulnerable to toxins and immune dysfunction.
Principal investigator for this study is Dr. Janet Kern, an adjunct assistant professor of psychiatry at UT Southwestern, which is internationally recognized for its clinical and research programs.
“Some children with autism are poor detoxifiers relative to normally developing children, and in particular, have trouble excreting toxic metals,” said Dr. Kern. “Toxic metals that are not eliminated may build up in the brain.
Plasma glutathione has been found to be lower in children with autism,
particularly, in children with autism who have regressed. We want to clearly establish that raising glutathione levels in these children will improve their ability to detoxify these substances and in that way improve some of their symptoms.”
Dr. Jill James, Professor of Pediatrics at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, will be a coinvestigator.
Dr. James is noted for her landmark studies in autism and toxicology and is among the first scientists to point out the links with low glutathione levels. “ We know that Immunocal has been used to raise glutathione in other studies very effectively in areas such as cancer and lung disease.
We want to take advantage of this same technology”, stated James.
The team will be using a protein supplement produced by Immunotec Research Ltd. near Montreal, Quebec, Canada, called “Immunocal”. It is identified by the Physicians’ Desk Reference (PDR) as a glutathione precursor. Immunotec Research Ltd. has combined rigorous research and business acumen delivering natural healthcare and dietary supplements in 22 countries worldwide.
